Beyond the Frame
Develop Fresh Thinking
Instructor: Mike Quon
Friday, May 13, 2011 2:30 – 5:00 pm
at the Guild of Creative Art
This promises to be a very exciting day. Mike will lead spontaneous exercises to develop 'FRESH' thinking like a beginner. You will work in teams to 'let go' of your preconceived ideas on what it is to be an artist. It is NEVER too late to explore the artist that has been hiding in you for all these years!! And you are never 'too old' to have fun while doing it. Using collages, cut paper, quick painting, and other techniques, he will teach you how to tell a story through VISUAL communication. Mike believes art should be FUN….. so GET READY to open your mind!
Please bring any of these: glue stick, some magic markers, paper, paints, scissors…..and beginner's thinking. (Mike will also have “stuff” on hand.)
Mike Quon, a Guild Exhibiting Artist, was born and raised in Southern California, enjoyed surfing, and graduated with honors from UCLA. Working in advertising design, brand identity development, and illustration design, he relocated to NYC, and lived and worked there for almost three decades. (His work can be seen in museum permanent collections, and he has had many gallery presentations.) He is the son of a Disney animator and art director, and has traveled the world sketching and taking pictures.
