Trudy Maran has used the camera to express the artistic side of her nature since childhood. Although she studied at Monmouth University in many mediums of the artistic world and loved doing them all, she keeps coming back to photography.

A degree in Art Education was not enough to support her family, so Trudy went to law school and became a trial attorney. Taking time out to paint or sculpt was out of the question for this professional career woman, but the camera was always available for stolen moments during those years.

Now that she has retired her law practice, Trudy has come back to art and is currently studying with master photographer, Laury Egan. "I’ve realized that photography is my medium. There is just something about framing the world through the lens that helps explain its mysteries."

Trudy's current work has been exhibited at the Guild of Creative Art in the Eyesights Juried Photography Show and in Laury Egan’s Focal Point: An Exhibit By 13 Photographers. Her work won Honorable Mention in the Jersey Shore Juried Art Show at the Belmar Arts Council, and she is currently preparing an exhibit that will open on February 7, 2009, with the three other winners of that show.
