Steve Lambert has been involved in artistic endeavors since childhood, beginning with realistic wildlife carvings at the age of nine. This interest in carving would later lead to a series of wood sculptures, many of which he has sold.

Sketching and drawing have always been a part of Steve’s life, and after many years, he finally took action on a lifelong dream to paint with oils, which he has been doing since 2002. After painting on his own for two years, he took a six-week course with artist Mary Jo Austin at the Ocean County Artists Guild in Island Heights, NJ. It was after this that his interest in plein air painting started with the scenery of the New Jersey shore providing inspiration. Having lived in New Mexico for three years, Steve has also drawn on that area’s landscape and architecture for some of his plein air sketches as well as finished studio pieces. He finds the intense New Mexico sunlight and the contrast it provides captivating, and he often returns there to spend a week painting.

In the past, his work has been hung in the Watermark Gallery in Tuckerton, NJ, as well as the Anchor and Palette Gallery in Bay Head, NJ. He has also had a one-person exhibit at the Lavallette, NJ, Branch of the Ocean County Library, and one of his seascapes was selected for the 2008 Statewide Exhibition held at the Ocean County Artists Guild.
