Michael Hynes is from Ireland, though he lived in London for eight years before moving to the States with his wife in 1996. Michael enjoys capturing inspiring and intriguing views of nature and landscapes, as well as creating abstract pieces, many of which focus on botanicals and architecture. He works almost exclusively in black and white, emphasizing tones to suit the image. Michael prints all of his own photographs, using ultrachrome archival pigment inks on acid-free cotton rag papers.

Michael is a member of the Monmouth Camera Club, where his image “Whaler’s Cabin,” was the recipient of the Dankwart Koehler Print of the Year award for 2007/2008. He also received Digital Image of the Year in his division for “Rapt Rose.” “Whaler’s Cabin” also won Best in Show at the 2008 Middletown Photography Show at the Middletown Arts Center. He is also a member of the Belmar Arts Council and the Guild of Creative Art, where his image, “Resting Place,” won an Honorable Mention at the 16th Annual Juried Show.
