Jean Hutter’s work springs from her love of nature. She believes the abstractions of form and mass evoke a feeling of grand spaces one can only feel when standing on top of a mountain looking down into a valley of plains and fields. This living landscape dances across the paper, inviting the viewer to come back again and again. This type of work does not capture a moment in time but rather a feeling or response to something you have seen or remembered.
An explorer at heart, Jean’s non-objective world is composed of many paths of line and color that have a language of their own. Layer upon layer of watermedia leaves a thin veil of the color that has gone before, evoking a feeling of places we might have been once in our lifetime. "I’m a very impulsive person so this kind of painting really appeals to me," Jean says. This method of work is called experimental painting—acrylic, watercolor, inks, colored pencil, collage, and just about anything else can be used in a painting. It’s a very exciting way to work, Jean feels, but also very challenging, which is what makes these works so unique.
A resident of New Jersey, Hutter is an experienced painter having made the transition from computer graphics to fine art impressions that are truly original. She is an exhibiting member of The Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, signature member of The Baltimore Watercolor Society, International Society of Experimental Artists, The Ocean County Artists Guild, and numerous other art groups. Her work may be seen in many corporate and private collections as well as on the internet.
